Roberta Schreyer (b.1997) is a German-Austrian textile artist whose work explores how art can set hope within the climate narrative and repair the fractured relationship between humans and nature. Through her practice, she advocates for environmental and social justice, using craft as a tool to build communities of care and promote a circular economy.
Rooted in ancestral knowledge and guided by ecological principles, Roberta works primarily with natural dyes, hand embroidery, and natural ink silkscreen printing. Her mixed-media textile installations are created with and for nature, combining traditional techniques with contemporary concerns.
By giving a voice to the environment, Roberta imagines a future where ecosystems are no longer depleted but healed — a future shaped by reciprocity, circular systems, and community. Her work not only preserves ancient dye traditions but also invites new forms of making that centre slowness, care, and connection.
Whether working with artisan communities or transforming waste textiles into hopeful soft protest, Roberta’s practice is grounded in the belief that textile art is both a tool for education and a path toward a future in balance between people and planet.
